GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 11 University of Florida men's swimming team concluded the Bulldog Invitational Last Chance Meet on Sunday at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.
On the final day of racing, Florida swimmers notched five b-cuts and nine new personal-best times.
In total, Florida will head back to Gainesville with 12 B-cuts and 26 new career-best times throughout the 42 events at the Last Chance Meet.
Eric Friese posted the best time for Florida in the 100 free. After a 16th-place prelim effort, the freshman set a new personal-best of 43.09 to win the B-final. His time secured a B-cut and was the second-fastest finals time overall.
His new best is .04 faster than his previous top time set at last week SEC Championships.
Four more Gators would compete in the event, with Jorge Depassier and Lucas Kravchenko racing against Friese in the A-final.
Depassier finished fifth in the final after posting a season-best swim of 44.67 in the preliminary.
Kravchenko would finish behind his teammate for a seventh-place finals finish. His best time of the day came in the morning as well, touching in 45.32.
Jack Szaranek would trim 12 seconds off his time from the morning to finish behind Friese in the B-final with a swim of 45.19.
Marty Stange was Florida's final competitor, posting a season-best swim of 45.75 in the prelims.
The duo of Advait Page and Matthew Anderson both notched B-cuts in the mile on Sunday morning.
Page would finish in second-place with a new career-best, trimming 20 seconds off his last best effort as the freshman finished in 15:04.27.
Anderson finished behind Page in third with an effort of 15:13.76.
Tyler Watson, Nick Hackett and Jake Adcock all strung together career performances in the 200 fly as the trio would set new personal-bests in both sessions on Sunday.
After winning the prelim with a time of 1:44.96, Watson came back and won the finals heat with a new career-best time of 1:44.52, securing a B-cut in the process.
Nick Hackett would improve by .40 seconds to earn a third-place finish with new top time of 1:47.89 and Adock would finish behind him in 1:48.74, .07 seconds better than his swim from the morning.
A pair of freshmen would notch new personal-bests in the 200 breast on Sunday.
Dylan Brisco clocked a prelim time of 2:00.16 to trim three seconds off his previous best.
Hector Rodriguez would notch his new top time in the finals with a swim of 2:02.62, three full seconds faster than his last top swim.
A Florida duo also improved on their morning swims in the 100 back finals.
Tyler Silver notched a B-cut with his finals time of 47.42, good for third-place.
Ethan McCloud would set a new personal-best swim of 49.66 in the finals to finish in eighth.
McCloud would also register a new personal-best swim in the 400 IM to finish the preliminary heat in third-place.
His new top swim of 3:51.79 shaved off eight seconds off his previous personal-best.
What's Next
Florida will now prepare for national postseason competition.
Divers will head to Gabrielsen Natatorium on March 9-11 for the NCAA Diving Zones to secure qualifying scores on the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform.
The Gators will then compete at the 2020 NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. from March 25-28 to end the 2019-20 season.
