SEC announced Thursday suspension of competition through at least March 30.

Southeastern Conference commissioner Greg Sankey announced today that beginning Thursday, March 12 and continuing until at least Monday, March 30, regular-season competition for teams in all sports on SEC campuses, as well SEC championship events, will be immediately suspended.Β

GAINESVILLE, Fla. β No. 2 Florida and Texas Woman's University look to generate their own energy Friday in the Exactech Arena. Due to new coronavirus (COVID-19) guidelines from the Southeastern Conference, Friday's competition is in front of only essential staff and limited family attendance.

It is also Gator Senior Day. Florida's seniors Sierra Alexander, Maegan Chant, Rachel Gowey and Amelia Hundley will be honored post meet.

The Gators' Last Meet:
Perfection came in three different events for the Gators in Saturday's 198.10 β 196.225 win at No. 25 Penn State. First it was senior Sierra Alexander, earning the maximum value for her Yurchenko full vault (9.95). Then Trinity Thomas found perfection again β this time on floor exercise. Thomas' posted a 10.0 on three events in 2020 β uneven bars, balance beam and now floor exercise. On the final rotation, Rachel Gowey put together a flawless balance beam routine to earn her first 10.0.

These along with a solid team performance helped the Gators to its second-highest total of the season, 198.10. It is Florida's third total above 198.00 in 2020 β 198.375 (Jan. 24), 198.10 (March 7) and 198.05 (Feb. 21). Saturday's result gives Florida seven appearances among the nation's top 20 team totals of 2020.

SEC Gymnast of the Week Honors for Pair of Gators:
After their performances at Penn State, two Gators picked up SEC weekly honors. Thomas claims her seventh consecutive SEC Gymnast of the Week honor. Her eight honors in 2020 is the most in the 21-year history of the award.

Gowey collects the SEC Specialist Gymnast of the Week β her first of 2020 and second of career.

Texas Woman's University took third in a home quad meet last Friday (No. 6 LSU 197.00; No. 17 Arkansas 196.30; TWU 192.25; Centenary College 191.625).
