The 21 honorees are the most for the Gator lacrosse team in program history
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida's women's lacrosse team dominated in the classroom during the 2020 season as 21 student-athletes were named to the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, as the league announced Friday.
The 21 honorees are the most by the lacrosse team in program history.
Between lacrosse, baseball, golf, softball, tennis and track & field, the University of Florida had an astounding 113 student-athletes named to the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll.
On the field, the Gators finished 6-2 due to the shortened season. Florida defeated four ranked opponents, including No. 1 Maryland and No. 3 Stony Brook. Three Gators collected ILWomen All-American accolades, with Shannon Kavanagh and Cara Trombetta each being named to the First Team.
To be recognized for the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must meet the following criteria: 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
