A corner kick in the 66th minute led to the Gators' second goal. Tauzel's corner kick was cleared to the upper corner of the box where Kit Loferski touched it out to sophomore Cece Price located 25 yards from goal. The ball she sent in to the middle of the six-yard box was punched by Tiger goalkeeper McKenna Sheehan. Senior Madison Alexander's outstretched left leg caught the ball before it hit the ground, scoring just inside the far post. It was Alexander's first goal of fall 2021 and 14th of Gator career.
The first of two goals by Tiger Jadyn Easley tied the match in the 68th minute. Kyla Johnson's centering cross from the right side found Easley's right leg as she and a Gator defender collided in front of the near post. The spin of the ball carried it across the mouth of the goal to score at the far post.
It was Easley again for the decisive goal. Easley brought ball down the right side to score at 90:51 on an angled shot to the far corner.
Kicking for the Cure
Sunday was the 13th Annual Gators Kicking for a Cure match. The Gators wore their pink kits to show their support for fight against breast cancer.
The team also sponsored a food drive to share with families facing cancer.
Coach Amato Said:
On today's performance"
"I thought we did enough to win the game. Got to just feel for all the players and the staff because it's brutal to lose in overtime. I thought we fought today. I thought we created enough chances. We gave away some goals that we haven't been doing in a while and ultimately, that's the difference in the game.
"I thought the game was won inside the boxes for them today. You've got to execute in your attacking box, you've got to execute in your defending box and we came up a little short there today. We'll have to wear that and be a little better and find a way to get some points next week on the road." – Florida Head Coach Tony Amato
First goals of season for a Gator duo. What about their performances today?
"We felt like Taylor [Baksay] could get on the end of some set pieces. She and Georgia [Eaton-Collins] have done a really good job of that this season. It felt like it was coming this year for Taylor and so we're happy for her.
"Madi Alexander's been chipping away and putting herself in front of goal. Cece [Price] played a ball in that Madi followed up on. Credit to them for putting themselves in that spot and we're happy for both of them." – Florida Head Coach Tony Amato
