Jackie Lucena was the runner up to lead Florida to a third-place finish.
CHICAGO - Florida women's golf newcomer Jackie Lucena was the runner up at the Windy City Classic as the Gators recorded their third straight third-place finish this fall on Tuesday.
Lucena turned in her second round under par (-1) in round three as she started the day with a birdie on 10 to end the weekend with 13 total. She battled Stanford's Rose Zhang and Texas' Bohyun Park for individual honors throughout the final day, only finishing one stroke behind Zhang (-4). The outing marked her best performance as a Gator and top finish on the team this fall.
The next three in the lineup - Marina Escobar, Maisie Filler and Annabell Fuller - all placed just outside the top-25 at T27. Rounding out the group was Clara Manzalini in T49th.
Making her season debut, Jenny Kim ended T22 to place second overall among individuals.
UF is off for a few weeks and then concludes the fall season at The Ally at Old Waverly (Oct. 25-27).

"I'm really proud of the team. It was not easy this week. The course was very challenging combined with tough weather conditions. Our practice round preparation was cut short due to weather, it wasn't smooth. But they battled. They played smart and they were mentally very tough. It was a great experience for this group.
"Jackie (Lucena) was awesome this week. She was so poised from start to finish. We knew she had this in her, she's been frustrated to not score better in the first two events but she has stayed patient and worked hard. I'm really happy for her."
