Meet the Gators: Anthony Ursitti

Due up next in Florida's 2021 Meet the Gators series is right-handed pitcher Anthony Ursitti out of Canterbury School. As a Fort Myers, Fla. native, Ursitti will wear No. 50 for the Gators in his debut campaign.
Recently ranked as the No. 1 recruiting class in the country by Perfect Game, Florida's 2021 incoming class features 16 freshmen and one four-year college transfer. Individually, Ursitti came to Gainesville as the No. 210 overall recruit in the country in addition to being the No. 29 player and No. 8 right-handed pitcher in Florida.
Playing under head coach Frank Turco at Canterbury, Ursitti helped lead the Cougars to a combined 56-11 record across his sophomore-to-senior seasons. Over his three-year varsity career, Ursitti went 14-1 on the hill with a 1.67 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 150 strikeouts in 100.2 innings pitched – translating to 13.4 strikeouts per nine innings.
As a senior in 2021, Ursitti was named All-State, All-Area, All-City, All-Section and All-Conference. He finished his final prep season with a 7-1 record and 88 strikeouts in 55.2 frames to go with a 2.26 ERA. Although he saw limited action at the plate, Ursitti wrapped up his high school career with a lifetime .389 batting average.
Additionally, Ursitti received Preseason All-America honors from Perfect Game in three-consecutive years from 2019-2021. He was also invited to Perfect Game's National Showcase in 2021.
On top of excelling on the diamond for Canterbury, Ursitti also competed for the Florida Burn and Florida Travel Baseball.
As the son of Theresa and Mark Ursitti, Anthony has two older brothers, Dominic and Michael. He intends to major in sport management at the University of Florida.
