
Florida Dive Set for 2021 SEC Championships at Mizzou

Three women and two men will represent the Gators this week at Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Florida men's and women's diving teams return to the pool on Wednesday for the 2021 SEC Championships in Columbia, Missouri.
The diving championships will be held at the Mizzou Aquatics Center on the University of Missouri campus over a four-day period. The women will kick off the meet with the 1-meter prelims at 4 p.m., and the finals to follow at 7:10 p.m.
The Gators will have five divers competing throughout the championships, two men and three women.
On the men's side, Leonardo Garcia is heading into the championships ranked first on the platform and third on the 3-meter board and will be competing in all diving events. At last year's SEC Championships Garcia placed fourth on both the 3-meter board and the platform.
Freshman, Anton Svirskyi will be competing on the 1-meter board, 3-meter board and the platform along with Garcia.
On the women's side, Elizabeth Perez, Emma Whitner, and Ashley McCool will be competing in all three dives. At last year's SEC Championships, Perez placed second on the 3-meter board and seventh on the platform.
Whitner ended up second on the platform at last year's championships and McCool finished forth on both the 1-meter board and the 3-meter board.
Regular Season Review
During the 2020-21 regular season, the Florida men's team complied an overall record of 2-1, and a conference mark of 1-1. The team started off the season with a loss to Georgia followed by two wins against Auburn.
Throughout the regular season Garcia has had five first place finishes, five second place finishes, and one third place finishes. Garcia was also named the SEC diver of the week after the Gators last home meet against Auburn.
Svirskyi has two second place finishes, two third place finishes, and three fourth place finishes throughout the regular season.
On the women's side, McCool has two first place finishes, one second place finish, and four third place finishes. Perez has three first place finishes, and five second place finishes. Whitner has three third place finishes and one fourth place finish heading into the championships.
