GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 6 Florida softball team continues its homestand at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium Thursday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m. against UNF on SEC Network+.
The Gators (8-0) enter Thursday's matchup with the Ospreys (1-4) after having swept the Bubly Invitational field of Georgia Southern and Charlotte this past weekend.
Katie Chronister (4-0) picked up two wins in the Bubly Invitational against Eagles and the 49ers, along with a third win earlier in the week against the Dolphins from Jacksonville.
In the win against Charlotte, Chronister hurled a complete-game shutout, the second of her career, and tallied career-highs in innings pitched (7.0) and strikeouts (6) on the way to earning her first SEC Pitcher of the Week accolade.
Offensively, the Gators scored 30 runs on 40 hits and notched a .323 batting average as a team over the five games played during the Bubly Invitational. Cheyenne Lindsey garnered the most hits after going 6-for-15 (.400) at the plate and tied Nicole Kreipl's single-game record for doubles with three against Georgia Southern in the final game of the weekend.
The Florida pitching staff currently holds 0.94 ERA, which ranks second in the SEC, and is tied for the conference lead with four shutouts in eight games played. Chronister has been a big part to the early success as she has yet to give up a run, while Elizabeth Hightower (0.74 ERA) and Rylee Trlicek (0.00 ERA) both hold ERAs under 1.00 and have contributed to the four shutouts.
At the plate, the Gators rank fourth overall in the SEC in batting average at .351 clip (73-of-208). Charla Echols still leads the team with a .542 average and is followed closely by Hannah Adams (.458), Lindsey (.455) and Jaimie Hoover (.400).
After Thursday's midweek action, Florida will host Louisville Saturday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. The team will then conclude Sunday with a single game against McNeese State at 1 p.m.
