
Alfonso Mestre Qualifies For The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

GAINSEVILLE, Fla. – Alfonso Mestre qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and will be representing Venezuela.
Mestre crushed the minimum qualification time for Tokyo in the 800 with a time of 7:50.81. The minimum qualification time to qualify for Tokyo was 7:54.31.
"This is what I have trained for all my life," said Mestre. "All of the sacrifices have paid off and I can't wait to give it my all for Venezuela in Tokyo.
We are extremely proud of Alfonso, and knew he was capable of achieving this standard," said Head Coach Anthony Nesty. "He's a very hard worker and deserves to be on Venezuelan Olympic team. The Gators will be very well represented in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games."
