Two Gators Named to SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll

Carlos Bustos and Giovanni Manzoni earn the academic accolade
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida men's golf team added more accolades to its resume on Tuesday as the Southeastern Conference announced the 2021 SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll.
Carlos Bustos and Giovanni Manzoni were each honored by the league for their academic achievements.
The announcement brings the Florida men's golf program to a total of seven honorees during the 2020-21 academic year as last week, five Gators earned a spot on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll.
Today's announcement brings Florida's total of student-athletes named to a 2020-21 SEC Academic Honor Roll to a program-record 378, which is 70 percent of UF's student-athletes. Florida placed 301 on SEC Academic Honor Rolls (107 on fall list; 62 winter, 132 on spring) and 77 on the First-Year Honor Roll.
To be recognized for the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must meet the following criteria: 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
