
Gators Cross Country Ready for Two Races on Friday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. โ It's been almost three weeks since Florida's last cross country race, but the Gators are in full force this week as the team competes in two meets on Friday, Oct. 1 at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., and the UCF Invitational in Orlando.
The Gators are sending eight men and women to Notre Dame for the meet, where they are set to compete against a countless amount of top teams in the country. The women will face five teams in the top 10 of the USTFCCCAย national rankings, including No. 2 NC State, No. 3 New Mexico, No. 6 Alabama and No. 8 Michigan and Washington. The men's team will compete against a lot of talented teams, such as No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 10 Butler.
In the Joe Piane Invitational, the men and women will race in the Blue Division as both teams will run their allotted distances for the first time this season. The men are set to run a 5-Mile course starting at 11 a.m. and the women will race in a 5k beginning at 11:45 a.m.

The men will compete in the 6k for the second time this season at 6 p.m., while the women compete in the 5k starting at 6:30 p.m. The teams participating in the race are: Daytona State College, FIU,ย Florida A&M,ย Florida Atlantic (women only),ย Florida State College at Jacksonville, Jacksonville, Lynn and Stetson (women only).
