GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The top two teams in the 2022 NCAA Championships final hold those same positions in the 2023 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) preseason poll.
Defending NCAA champion Oklahoma tallied 22 first-place votes to top the preseason poll. The Florida Gators are one behind with 21 first-place votes. Rounding out the top five are No. 3 Utah, No. 4 Michigan and No. 5 Auburn.
The nation's preseason top five has included the Gators every season since 2007 (2007: 3rd; 2008: 2nd; 2009: 3rd; 2010: 4th; 2011: 3rd; 2012: 3rd, 2013: 3rd; 2014: 1st, 2015: 1st, 2016: 2nd, 2017: 5th; 2018: 2nd; 2019: 3rd, 2020: 3rd; 2021: 1st; 2022: 2nd; 2023: 2nd).
"The level of NCAA gymnastics shown across this nation week in and week out is incredible. The fans recognize this and are filling arenas to see these amazing gymnasts compete," Florida Head Gymnastics Coach Jenny Rowland said. "I'm so looking forward to another outstanding NCAA Gymnastics season."
Nine consecutive meets versus preseason top-25 opponents await the Gators in 2023. The Stephen C. O'Connell Center is the site for some of the nation's top dual meets of 2023, with four of the preseason top 20 competing in Gainesville.
