Florida Women Claim 2022 NCAA Indoor National Championship
Sunday, March 13, 2022 | Track and Field
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Florida Women's Track and Field team won its second national championship in program history and the 11th overall for Florida's track and field program with a dominant Saturday evening and 68 total team points at the 2022 NCAA Indoor National Championships.
Florida held a slim lead heading into the second day but blew the competition out of the water on Saturday evening, winning the team title with three events to spare.
The Gators took home five individual titles, just the second time that's happened in the history of the NCAA Women's Indoor Championships.
Grace Stark and Semira Killebrew got things started in the 60 meters by scoring eight team points. Stark ran 7.13 for fourth place while Killebrew matched a personal best of 7.18 to claim sixth place.
Talitha Diggs scored big points in the 400 meters by running a personal best of 50.98 in the first heat to win her first NCAA Championship. Her time is also the second-fastest in school history.
After running the 60 meters, Stark came back and matched the collegiate record of 7.78 in the 60-meter hurdles to win another individual crown for the Gators.
Stark becomes the first Gator in school history to win an NCAA Indoor title in the 60-meter hurdles. Her collegiate record means Florida owns the NCAA records in both the men's and women's 60-meter hurdles (Grant Holloway).
Jasmine Moore continued to do what Jasmine Moore does. Win and win big. She broke her own collegiate record on her first attempt in the triple tump Saturday night with a mark of 14.57m. That jump held steady for a first-place finish and all 10 points for the Gators.
Natricia Hooper jumped 13.99m to finish second in the triple jump and add eight more points for Florida.
Moore becomes the first woman in NCAA Indoor history to win conference and national titles in both the long jump and triple jump in the same season.
Just this season, Moore has broken two school records, one national record and won two NCAA and SEC titles.
The Gators wrapped up the team race (68 points) before the start of the 200 meters, allowing Florida the ability to watch the final three events before the trophy celebration.
This NCAA Championship is the 11th in program history and the second won by the women's team. This is also the 10th team title won under the leadership of head coach Mike Holloway.
Holloway becomes just the 10th head coach in Division I Track and Field history to win 10 team titles. He's also just one of two black head coaches in D1 history to win 10 titles.
On the men's side, Florida scored 11 team points. Jacory Patterson and Ryan Willie finished fourth and fifth in the 400 meters.
The Gators closed out the men's portion of the meet with a seventh-place finish in the 4x400 relay.

- This is the 43rd national title for the Gator program.
- Florida celebrates its 50th Anniversary of Women's Athletics this season. This is UF's 21st women's national team title (19 NCAA / two AIAW).
- Fifteen UF sports have won national team titles. That is the nation's fourth highest array of sport titles for a program (and highest east of Mississippi). Florida's 15 leads Southeastern Conference programs (Georgia is second with national titles in 10 NCAA sanctioned sports).
- Michael Holloway is the 17th to coach a NCAA championship team in a men's AND women's sport (2022: WITF; MITF: 2019, 2018, 2012, 2011, 2010; MOTF: 2017, 2016, 2013, 2012). Among those 17, there are two others with UF ties: Randy Reese (1982 WS&D; 1983 & 1984 MS&D), Bryan Shelton (2007 Georgia Tech WTEN; 2021 Florida MTEN)
