
Gators Defeat Ole Miss 3-2 to Reach SEC Championship Semifinals

Florida defeated Ole Miss 3-2 to advance to the semifinals of the SEC Championship for the first time in program history.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Florida women's golf team set history and defeated Ole Miss 3-2 in the quarterfinals advance to the semifinals of the SEC Championship on Saturday.
The Gators will take on No. 1 Auburn at 3:40 p.m. ET on Saturday and can be streamed on SEC Network+ with coverage beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
After the match was halted yesterday due to darkness, Florida owned a 3-2-0 advantage over Ole Miss and resumed the match this afternoon due to severe weather last night.
The victory over Ole Miss marked the first win in match play in program history as the Gators last lost to the Rebels in 2019 in a playoff hole 3-2 and Arkansas 3-2 the year prior.
Florida didn't miss a beat to start and took six of the nine holes with two pushes and only one loss. Jackie Lucena secured the first point for the Gators and won her match 6&5. Annabell Fuller pushed it to a 2-0 lead winning 4&3.
Clara Manzalini clinched the victory for UF 2&1 with a push on hole eight. Ole Miss took two points as Marina Escobar fell 1-down and Maisie Filler 2&1.
With a victory in the semifinals, the Gators will take on the winner of No. 2 LSU and No. 6 Alabama in the championship match live on SEC Network tomorrow.
