Joseph Fahnbulleh, Natricia Hooper Set NCAA Leads at LSU Invitational
Saturday, April 30, 2022 | Track and Field
BATON ROUGE, La. – On a hot day in Baton Rouge, Florida closed out the regular season with a number of strong marks including big-time performances from Joseph Fahnbulleh (200 meters) and Natricia Hooper (Triple Jump).
In a race that saw Adidas' Erriyon Knighton break the U-20 World Record (19.49) (+1.4), Fahnbulleh matched the NCAA lead in the 200 meters with a run of 19.92 (+1.4). He was .01 seconds off his personal best of 19.91 that he ran in last year's NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Natricia Hooper led the way as the Gators once again dominated the Women's Triple Jump field. Her mark of 14.18m/46-6.25 (+2.7) gave her back the NCAA lead.
She and teammate Jasmine Moore remain the only two collegians to cross the 14-meter barrier in the NCAA this season.
It was a day to remember in the horizontal jumps for Florida's women on Saturday in Baton Rouge. Moore led a 1-2-3 sweep of the Long Jump.
Moore jumped 6.82m/22-4.5 (+2.0) to move into a tie for third on the NCAA descending order list this season. That mark also moves her closer to the school record of 6.84m set by Yanis David in 2019.
Anna Hall recorded a big-time all-conditions personal best when she jumped 6.74m/22-1.5 (+3.3) on her third and final attempt of the day.
That moves her into No. 5 in the NCAA this season. She now has top-5 collegiate marks this season in the Heptathlon, 400-meter hurdles and Long Jump.
Claire Bryant rounded out an outstanding day for Florida on the runway with a mark of 6.67m/21-10.75 (+1.9). She remains No. 6 on the collegiate list in the Long Jump.
On the season, Florida has the top two marks in the NCAA in the Women's Triple Jump and three of the top six marks collegiately in the Women's Long Jump.
Florida's men opened the meet in 38.86 in the 4x100 relay, finishing second by just .01. That is the fourth time this season that Florida has gone under 39 seconds.
Champion Allison opened his outdoor account in the 400 meters with a time of 45.16. That mark sits sixth collegiately this season and moves him into No. 9 in school history.
Taylor Manson made her return to the track, clocking a top-25 time nationally in the 400 meters after running 52.35.
At North Florida, Imogen Barrett (2:02.33) led a 1-2 finish for the Gators in the 800 meters alongside Gabrielle Wilkinson (2:03.93).
Wilkinson's season-best time sits No. 14 nationally in the event.
Zach Godbold put up a huge personal best of 66.16m/217-0 in the javelin to move into No. 10 on Florida's All-Time Top 10 list.
Florida will now turn its attention to the postseason as the calendar flips to May.
Up first: the SEC Outdoor Championships in Oxford, Miss. on May 11-13.
Next weekend, Anna Hall (Heptathlon) will also attempt to qualify for Team USA and the 2022 World Championships when she heads to Fayetteville, Ark. for the USATF Combined Events Championships.
