Langford Receives All-America Honors

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On the heels of one of the best all-around seasons in program history, Florida outfielder Wyatt Langford was named a Second Team All-American by Perfect Game as well as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Wednesday afternoon.
With Wednesday's announcement, Langford becomes the 99th All-American in Gators baseball history. Additionally, he is the 25th different player to garner All-America recognition during Head Coach Kevin O'Sullivan's tenure. Those 25 Gators have combined for 97 various All-America honors.
As a sophomore in 2022, Langford tied Florida's single-season home run record set by Matt LaPorta in 2005 while leading the Southeastern Conference with 26 long balls. On his way to slashing a robust .355/.447/.719, Langford led the Gators in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits (91), runs (73), RBI (63) triples (three) and total bases (184) while starting all 66 games in left field.
As of this week, Langford ranks fourth in the nation in total bases (184), tied for sixth in home runs, tied for 14th in runs scored, tied for 17th in slugging and tied for 21st in hits.
In his first year playing the outfield, Langford produced a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with two assists across 125 defensive chances.
The Trenton, Fla. native was named to the All-SEC Second Team in May and received a first team nod from USA Today. Last week, Langford accepted an invitation to attend the 2022 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp and earlier today, he was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Southeast All-Region First Team.
