NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Florida track and field program had four recipients of Outdoor Track and Field National Awards, as announced by the USTFCCCA on Friday afternoon.
Anna Hall (Women's Field Athlete of the Year), Joseph Fahnbulleh (Men's Track Athlete of the Year), Nic Petersen (Women's Assistant Coach of the Year) and Mike Holloway (Men's and Women's Coach of the Year) were all awarded for their accomplishments following the 2022 outdoor season.
Hall pulled off an outstanding double at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, competing in both the Heptathlon and 400-meter hurdles.
She dominated the field in the Heptathlon, scoring 6385 points to complete the indoor/outdoor sweep of the multis.
On top of that, Hall raced the semifinals and finals of the 400-meter hurdles. She was the National Runner-Up in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 54.76.
She broke her own school record in the semifinals at 54.48.
The finals of the 400-meter hurdles came just 20 minutes before the final event of the Heptathlon, the 800 meters.
The Highlands Ranch, Colo. native piled up 18 team points over the course of 20 minutes to help inch the Gators closer to the team title.
Her outdoor season featured three of the top seven marks in collegiate history in the Heptathlon.
She scored 6458 points, No. 2 in NCAA history, at the USATF Combined Events Championships in early May to win the U.S. title and qualify for the World Championships.
Her performance was capped off by a 2:03.11 in the 800 meters, the fastest time a collegiate athlete has ever run to close out the Heptathlon.
She ran 23.13 in the 200 meter-portion of the Heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships which is also a collegiate record for that part of the event.
Hall also scored a 5th-place finish in the Long Jump at the SEC Outdoor Championships to score four team points.
She owns top-10 marks in school history across seven different outdoor events including both relays.
Fahnbulleh put on a show for the ages at the NCAA Outdoor Championships across three different events.
He opened the Championship day by anchoring Florida to a National Runner-Up finish in the 4x100 relay in 38.52.
Fahnbulleh ran down almost the entire field, getting the Gators into second place and scoring eight team points.
To follow that up, he went and swept the 100 meters and 200 meters against outstanding fields of athletes.
Behind the field halfway through the race, Fahnbulleh ran down his competitors in the 100 meters, crossing the line in 10.00 to win the National Championship.
He was not among the favorites entering the competition but helped spark a 1-5 finish for the Gators in the event, scoring 14 team points.
To close out the night, he went and ran one of the fastest times in collegiate history in the 200 meters.
Fahnbulleh passed up the field with ease, running 19.83 to defend his national title. His time was the No. 4 performance in NCAA history and put the NCAA Men's Outdoor Championship to bed.
He became the first male athlete in Florida history to win two individual running events at the same NCAA Outdoor Championships. He was also first in program history to win the 100m/200m double.
Fahnbulleh helped lead the Gators to the SEC Outdoor crown in the 4x100 relay and was the conference runner-up in the 200 meters.
He has reached the qualifying standard to the World Championships in both the 100 meters and 200 meters and will represent Liberia in Eugene this summer.
Petersen helped guide Jasmine Moore, Claire Bryant, Natricia Hooper and Hall to 129 points in the horizontal jumps across the four postseason meets this year.
The Gators had at least two athletes in the finals of every Long Jump and Triple Jump postseason competition this season.
Moore went a perfect 8-for-8 on titles across the horizontal jumps this season, the first woman in NCAA history to accomplish that feat.
Hooper (Triple Jump) and Bryant (Long Jump) were both First Team All-Americans during the indoor and outdoor season, providing the Gators valuable points at every Championship.
He was the National Women's Assistant Coach of the Year during the indoor campaign and sweeps the award across both seasons.
This is his first national honor during the outdoor season.
Holloway led the Gators to the Men's and Women's NCAA Outdoor Championships this past week, the first time Florida has won both team titles at the same NCAA Championships.
The Gators powered their way to 74 points on the women's side and 54 on the men's side following seven NCAA event titles last weekend.
All of Florida's 54 points on the men's side came in the sprints and relays, two of Holloway's specialty events.
The 54 points scored across the three sprint events (100m, 200m, 400m) and relays (4x100, 4x400) were the most ever scored by a single team in those five events at the same NCAA Outdoor Championships since relays were added in 1964.
Those wins marked titles No. 11 and No. 12 in the career of Holloway. It was his first women's NCAA Outdoor Championship.
Florida won three of four NCAA titles this season, the third program in NCAA history to accomplish that feat.
