Finke’s American Record Highlights Day 4 of FINA World Championships

Bobby Finke breaks American Record in the 800m free final
 
BUDAPEST, Hungary – The Gators secured their fourth gold medal on Day 4 of the FINA World Championships. Tuesday marked three-straight days that Florida has been on the podium.
 
Bobby Finke claimed his first medal in the 800m free, touching the wall in 7:39.36, an American Record.
 
Men's 800m Free
Bobby Finke trailed for most of the final, consistently sitting in third or fourth during the first 750m. It wasn't until a final 50m split of 25.93 that propelled Finke ahead to the gold medal.
 
Men's 100m Free
Caeleb Dressel posted the second-best time in the 100m free prelims, finishing with a time of 47.95. The defending world champion scratched the semifinals due to medical reasons.
 
Alberto Mestre touched the wall in 49.59 and placed 35th in the 100m free preliminary round.
 
Mixed 4x100 Medley Relay
Eric Friese anchored Germany's 4x100 mixed medley during the preliminary session on Tuesday morning, recording a 48.99 split to secure the final qualifying spot. The finals relay team of Ole Braunschweig, Anna Elendt, Angelina Kohler, Rafael Miroslaw finished eighth in the evening session.
 
Wednesday's prelims are set to begin at 3 a.m. ET, followed by finals at 12 p.m. ET. The finals can be viewed on NBCSports.
