BUDAPEST, Hungary –
Katie Ledecky secured her fourth gold medal of the week, winning the 800m freestyle for the fifth consecutive time on day 7 of the FINA World Championships. Ledecky touched the wall in a time of 8:08.04 seconds, over 10 seconds ahead of the rest of the world. The Florida Volunteer Coach now has the top 27 fastest times ever in the event.
Bobby Finke raced in the 1,500m free preliminary session on Friday morning, advancing to Saturday's final. Finke will be looking to add another medal to his week after setting the American Record and winning gold in the 800m free on Tuesday.
Men's 1,500m Free
Bobby Finke swam his way into another championship final, finishing in 14:50.71 to secure the third overall seed in tomorrow's final. Finke was less than a second away from first, and over two and a half seconds ahead of fourth.
Women's 800m Free
Katie Ledecky is the first swimmer in history to win an individual event in five consecutive World Championships, winning in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and now 2022. She has now won 19 gold medals in her decorated career.
Saturday's prelims are set to begin at 3 a.m. ET, followed by finals at 12 p.m. ET. The finals can be viewed on NBCSports.
