Florida Freshman Kayla DiCello Wins Pan Am Floor Title

Incoming Gator freshman Kayla DiCello won floor exercise in Friday's Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. DiCello was the only U.S. gymnast to claim an event title in Friday's Senior competition.
The U.S. opened the first of four subdivisions at Barra Olympic Park. DiCello's floor score of 13.467 held as the leader as the other three subdivisions completed action.
DiCello was fifth in the-around at 51.967. Brazil's Flávia Lopes Saraiva won all-around (55.399) and balance beam (14.433). Her teammate Rebeca Rodrigues de Andrade won uneven bars (14.967) and Karla Andrea Navas Boyd of Panama took vault (13.333).
The U.S. advances to Sunday's team final with the second-highest qualifying score (160.455), trailing only Brazil (161.967). Competition begins Sunday at 9 a.m. ET. The top ranking teams qualify for the 2022 Artistic Gymnastics World Championship, set for October 29-Nov. 6 in Liverpool, England.
