Saturday, July 23, 2022 | Track and Field
EUGENE, Ore. – Talitha Diggs returned to the track on Saturday night, helping the Americans to a spot in the finals of the women's 4x400 relay.
The NCAA and U.S. Champion provided the opening leg for Team USA in the heats of the 4x400 relay, splitting 51.01 out of the blocks, the fastest leadoff leg run by any woman on Saturday evening.
She handed the baton off to the legendary Allyson Felix in what was likely Felix's final race at a World Championships or Olympics.
Kaylin Whitney and Jaide Stepter Baynes provided the final two legs as the Americans cruised to a time of 3:23.38 and a spot in the finals.
Team USA qualified to the finals of the 4x400 relay on the men's side and women's side. Both Diggs and Champion Allison, who didn't run in the heats, will be available for selection in tomorrow's finals.
On the field, Jasmine Moore finished 13th in the Long Jump with her mark of 6.60m. She came so close to the finals in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump, finishing one spot out of the top-12 in both events.
Will Claye finished 11th in the finals of the Men's Triple Jump.
Tomorrow's action features both finals of the 4x400 relay as competition wraps up from the 2022 World Championships.
