ABCA Honors O’Sullivan as Southeast Region Coach of the Year

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida Head Baseball Coach Kevin O'Sullivan has been named the NCAA Division I Southeast Region Coach of the Year, as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
The announcement marks the third-career Southeast Region Coach of the Year accolade for O'Sullivan and the first since earning consecutive nods from 2016-17. Florida's skipper was also honored as the 2017 ABCA National Coach of the Year during the Gators' national title run.
The ABCA/ATEC National and Regional Coaches of the Year are selected by members of the ABCA All-America and Coach of the Year committees in all nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division and high school.
This past season, O'Sullivan guided the Orange & Blue to a program-record 54 wins as the team advanced to the NCAA College World Series Finals in Omaha, Neb. The Gators captured their 16th SEC Regular-Season Championship including the sixth in the O'Sullivan era. On the way to earning the 13th College World Series berth in program history and eighth in 16 seasons under O'Sullivan, Florida also secured its 15th NCAA Regional title and won its ninth Super Regional.
A league-leading seven Gators achieved All-SEC honors in 2023 while another four members of the Orange & Blue were named All-Americans. Furthermore, UF set single-season team records in home runs (145), strikeouts (725), strikeouts per nine (10.6) and offensive hit-by-pitches (90).
O'Sullivan concludes the 2023 campaign having coached exactly 1,000 career games at Florida. He owns 681-319 record (.681) across 16 seasons.
Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 40 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
