Scott Tabbed Mets Minor League Pitcher of Year

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Former University of Florida baseball standout Christian Scott was named the New York Mets Minor League Pitcher of the Year, as announced by the organization on Wednesday evening.
Scott, who pitched for the Gators from 2019-2021, delivered a dominant 2023 campaign that included stops at Low-A St. Lucie, High-A Brooklyn and Double-A Binghamton. Across the three levels, Scott turned in a 2.57 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 11.0 strikeouts per nine and 1.2 walks per nine over 19 starts spanning 87 2/3 frames. Scott was exceptional in 12 starts with Double-A Binghamton, working to a 2.47 ERA with a 0.84 WHIP.
Drafted by the Mets with the 142nd overall pick in the fifth round of the 2021 MLB Draft, the Parkland, Fla., native has played parts of three seasons in the minor leagues. All told, the right-hander has fired 149 1/3 innings of 3.31 ERA ball in the New York farm system. Scott currently ranks as the No. 12 overall prospect in the Mets organization.
Going back to his days in Gainesville, Scott made 55 appearances including five starts in Orange & Blue. Over the course of his three-year career, he posted a 12-5 record, three saves, 3.72 ERA, .242 batting average against and 111 strikeouts against 33 walks in 121 innings.
The recipients of the Mets Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year awards, the Platinum Glove award and others will be honored at Citi Field on Sept. 28 prior to a 7:10 p.m. start against the Miami Marlins.
