Vera Blom Named to SEC All-Freshman Team

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida's Vera Blom (Spånga, Sweden) earned Southeastern Conference All-Freshman honors, the league office announced this morning.
All-SEC Freshman Team:
Vera Blom - Forward
· Led Florida with three goals and seven points
· Scored first collegiate goal opened Gator scoring versus UCF
· 25-yard strike at Georgia State landed on SportsCenter Top 10
· Closed Florida scoring in 3-0 win versus Kennesaw State
· First assist as a Gator came serving up corner kick headed in by Lauren Donovan in 2-1 win versus No. 22 Texas
· Started every match
In other awards announced Sunday, SEC champion Mississippi State took four individual honors – Macey Hodge (Midfielder of Year), Rylie Combs (Defender of Year), Maddy Anderson (Goalkeeper of Year) and James Armstrong (Coach of the Year). Arkansas' Ava Tankersley repeated as SEC Forward of Year. Texas' Amalia Villarreal is the Freshman of the Year and Kentucky's Makala Woods is Newcomer of the Year. Auburn's Anna Haddock repeated as SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
