Wednesday, November 20, 2024 | Baseball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida baseball newcomers Blake Cyr and Bobby Boser were ranked among D1Baseball's top-50 impact transfer hitters heading into the 2025 season.
Cyr, a rising junior outfielder from Miami, headlined the rankings at No. 10 overall. As a senior infielder out of USF, Boser slotted in at No. 45. The duo joins right-hander Billy Barlow on earning mention from D1Baseball, as the Clemson transfer came in at No. 42 in the publication's breakdown of the top-85 transfer pitchers.
Gators in the Rankings
OF Blake Cyr – No. 10
RHP Billy Barlow – No. 42
INF Bobby Boser – No. 45
Holding status as Florida's highest-ranked prospect (No. 40) for the 2025 MLB Draft, Cyr played in 85 games for the Hurricanes from 2023-24 and batted .298/.418/.593 with 24 homers, 15 doubles and 84 RBI. He burst onto the scene with Freshman All-American honors in 2023, delivering a .305/.427/.620 batting line highlighted by 17 long balls. The pinnacle of his rookie year came against Florida, when he hammered two home runs and drove in seven to finish one RBI shy of Miami's freshman single-game record. Although he missed time due to injury as a sophomore, Cyr made a successful defensive transition to left field and managed to post a strong .933 OPS and seven big flies in just 25 games.
Shifting to Boser, the three-year Bulls starter culminated his USF career with All-AAC First Team honors for the second-straight season in 2024. Ranking eighth in program history with 31 home runs, Boser slashed .299/.351/.667 with 12 homers and 32 RBI across 34 games in his final campaign. That brought his career batting line to .286/.386/.580 to go along with a strong .981 fielding percentage over 127 games. Excelling with the wood, Boser was a 2023 Cape Cod League All-Star and followed the act with a robust .319/.443/.486 line on the Cape with Wareham this past summer.
What They're Saying About the Gators
D1Baseball on OF Blake Cyr
"Cyr should make a massive impact for this Florida lineup in the spring. Cyr, a 5-foot-11, 190-pounder, had an impressive freshman campaign for the Hurricanes that included a .305 average, 12 doubles, 17 home runs and 63 RBIs before being hampered at times last season with just 95 at bats. During that time, he amassed seven home runs and knocked in 21. Look for Cyr to return to his freshman ways with the Gators."
D1Baseball on INF Bobby Boser
"After two straight ultra-productive seasons with the Bulls, Boser is headed to the SEC to try his hand with the Gators. Boser, a 6-foot-1, 210-pounder, showed premium power and hit for a solid average the last two seasons. As a sophomore, he hit .323 with three triples, 15 homers and 41 RBIs, while last season, he hit .299 with five doubles, a triple, 12 homers and 32 RBIs. He also swiped six bases and finished the year with a 1.018 OPS."
