Women’s Cross Country Set for NCAA Championship Race

The Gators secured their best finish in program history at the NCAA Championships last season, when the corps earned a fifth-place team finish.
MADISON, Wis. – Florida Gators Women's Cross Country is set to compete in the NCAA Championship race at the Zimmer Cross Country Championship Course in Madison, Wis., on Saturday, Nov. 23.
The national title race will begin at 10:20 a.m. ET, and will be broadcast uninterrupted on ESPNU.

The Gators finished second at the NCAA South Regional, securing an automatic qualification for the NCAA Championship race. The Gators now look to improve on their program-best 5th place team finish from a year ago.
The Gators raced at the Zimmer Cross Country Championship Course earlier this season, taking 10th in the Women's "A" race at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals event on Oct. 19th. Pre-Nationals was the season-debut race for many of the key contributors on the post-season squad, including Hilda Olemomoi, Allison Wilson, Liina Winborn, and Gabrielle Schmidt.
Olemomoi finished second in that race with a time of 19:02.9 (6k), well ahead of the existing course-record pace. The Gators scored 368 team points in a crowded field.
The Gators have Improved their times and placements dramatically since their previous showing in Madison, scoring just 79 points in the South Regional, though against a less competitive field. Olemomoi was crowned the south regional champion after her first-place finish in Tallahassee, with Tia Wilson, Allison Wilson and Beth Morley being named to the All-Region team with their 12th, 15th, and 16th-place finishes respectively.
