Gators Soccer Adds Transfer Abby Gemma

Gators soccer welcomes defender Abby Gemma for the 2025 season. Gemma appeared in 14 matches for Notre Dame as a freshman in 2024, including playing the entirety of each of her eight starts.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida soccer adds Abby Gemma, among TopDrawerSoccer's top 40 freshman of 2024 season, to the upcoming season's roster. The defender with U.S. Youth National Team experience transfers to Florida after appearing in 14 matches for 2024 NCAA quarterfinalist Notre Dame, including playing the entirety of eight matches.

"We are excited to add Abby to our program. We recruited her out of high school when we first arrived on campus. When we saw a second chance to get her in the Orange and Blue, we immediately jumped at the opportunity," Florida Head Coach Samantha Bohon said. "She fills an important need in the backline and brings experience from US Youth National Teams as well as a year of college experience. Can't wait to get to work!"

Gemma looks forward to joining the Gators in January.

"I couldn't be more excited to join a program that's ready to take off," Gemma said. "We are coming."

Gemma is the seventh newcomer to join the Gators for the 2025 season as UF signed six freshmen last month.
