Escobar Finished a Career Best Second at the Sea Best Intercollegiate
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida women's golfer Marina Escobar was named the SEC Golfer of the Week the league office announced Thursday. This is Escobar's first time earning the award and is based off her play at the Sea Best Intercollegiate.
The senior from Spain shot a 54-hole score of 214 (-2) to finish second by one stroke, marking her career best finish. Escobar was one of only two players to shoot under par for the event. She also led the field in birdies with 13 total.
Escobar averaged 3.17 on par-3's, 4.07 on par-4's and a field best 4.50 on par-5's. She shot back-to-back rounds of 71 (-1) that consisted of five birdies in each round on day one at San Jose Country Club.
The Gators are back in action Feb. 18-20 at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla.
