Maisie Filler shot a 54-hole score of 207 (-9) for a three shot victory at the Moon Golf Invitational.
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida women's golfer Maisie Filler won her third tournament of the season to lead the No. 8 Gators to a T5 finish at the Moon Golf Invitational.
UF finished with a tournament score of 873 (+9) to tie with Texas A&M in a field that featured 12 top-25 teams. The Gators have finished top-5 in the last five consecutive events and only missed one, which came in the season opener.
Filler becomes the eighth Gator all-time to win three medalist honors in a season with Sierra Brooks being the most recent in 2018. Both of them also won three consecutive medalist honors as the spring opener for Filler was altered to match play only.
Teeing off the final round as the leader, Filler held it the majority of the day and recorded two birdies in her first six holes. Then ran into some trouble with a stretch of bogeys at the turn and to start the back to give Aine Donegan of LSU the solo lead by a shot.
Filler regrouped and was consistent during the rest of the difficult back nine. She went 1-under and bogey-free on the final eight holes for a 3-under 69 final round and won by three shots with a 54-hole score of 207 (-9).
Filler's birdie on 17 along with birdies from freshmen Inès Archer and Paula Francisco pushed the Gators back up the leaderboard to close the day. Francisco finished tied for 28th and Archer T62.
Freshman Sophie Stevens shot her best round of the event with a 75 (+3) today to end T81 while Jackie Lucena finished 74th.
Florida returns to Gainesville to host the Gators Invitational at Mark Bostick Golf Course from March 2-3.
