Tuesday, March 12, 2024 | Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Camyla Monroy and Peyton Donald solidified another NCAA spot, qualifying for a second event during the third day of competition of Zone B Championships in Athens, Ga., while Skip Donald finished ninth overall in the Men's 3-Meter to give him a shot at advancing depending on his platform performance tomorrow.
After sweeping the Men's 1-Meter event yesterday morning, Peyton kept his momentum going in morning prelims. The sophomore advanced to the finals session after finishing fourth with 386.35. He remained in the top-five for the first three rounds during the afternoon session, but ended up placing 11th overall to solidify a top-12 spot with a combined score of 713.60.
His brother Skip Donald earned the highest score on the men's side with a combined score of 714.95. The fifth-year senior recorded four 60-plus scores during the finals to land a spot in the top-12. If he finishes in the top-10 tomorrow in platform, the Woodlands, Tx. native will compete in both the Men's 3-meter and platform in Indianapolis later this month.
On the women's side, Monroy is now slated to compete in the 1-Meter and Platform events in Georgia next week after registering a combined score of 635.50 to set a new school record (Platform, 10 Attempts). The freshman advanced to the finals after placing first in prelims with 327.60. She will look to medal next week in her first NCAA Championship.
Casey Greenberg finished eighth overall, just shy of the advancing top-seven platform scores with 519.20, but her score of 286.30 in prelims was enough to qualify for the Olympic Trials.
Hear from Head Diving Coach Bryan Gillooly
"I'm very happy to get two more spots at NCAAs, a school record for Camyla and an Olympic trial qualifying score for Casey. But I think today was a real test of our character, which I welcome. We faced a lot of adversity and it definitely wasn't everyone's best performance but at the end of the day it's how you respond that matters most. I'm so proud of this whole group and can't wait to see what we've take away from today's events. I'm excited to watch these men dive platform tomorrow."
