Wednesday, March 20, 2024 | Track and Field
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – To begin the 2024 Outdoor Season the Gators Track & Field program will compete at the Florida State University (FSU) Relays on Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22.
The Gators hope to find similar success in Tallahassee as they did in 2023 as the program had 31 athletes finish in the top-10 and nine finished in the top-3 over the two day competition.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gators last participated in the NCAA Indoor Championships where the men and women claimed third and second place finishes, respectively. The men tallied 39 points while the women accumulated 50 points.
The program's performance was highlighted by Parker Valby who completed "The Distance Double" by claiming the individual championship in both the 3000m and 5000m. Additionally, Claire Bryant, Grace Stark and the Men's 4x400m team all recorded runner-up finishes in their respective events. Overall, the athletes totaled 25 All-American honors.
ON THE TRACK & IN THE FIELD
Florida will be traveling a total of 30 athletes (15 men, 15 women) to compete at FSU Relays. The group features a fairly even mix of both runners and field athletes.
Both Abraham Sargent and Melanie Welsing are set to make their Gator debut during the weekend competition. Eight other Gators (Orlando Cicilioni, Allison Drummond, Zach Godbold, Akari Isaac, Da'Moni Kelly, Ashley Klingenberg, Logan Montgomery, Stephy Ormsby) are scheduled to make their 2024 Track & Field debut.
