Gators face No. 16 Tennessee at home on Sunday Afternoon

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Gators will welcome No. 16 Tennessee to the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex on Sunday at noon. Florida dropped its first home match of the season 4-3 against Georgia on Friday evening. The Volunteers are coming off a 4-3 road loss against No. 22 South Carolina.
Florida has faced two tough 4-3 losses in its last two matches. Despite finding their momentum in singles, not being able to take the doubles point has been the outcome changer for the Gators.
Rachel Gailis moved to a 2-1 conference record in singles after coming out victorious in the match against Georgia. This win marks Gailis' first win since SEC opening weekend. Gailis also snagged the second point for the Gators in Friday's match. Carly Briggs opened Florida's scoring column on Friday and posted her first win of conference action. Briggs posted a 7-6, 6-4, 6-2 win putting her at 3-8 overall and 1-1 in the regular season.
Sara Dahlstrom who cracked into the ITA ranking at No. 80 moved to a 2-0 conference record, making her the only undefeated Gator as of March 8. Overall Dalhstrom is 3-3 and has defeated two ranked players.
Following the last match, freshman Qavia Lopez no longer remains undefeated in conference action. Lopez fell in straight sets, moving to a 6-2 overall singles record and 2-1 in regular season action. Alicia Dudeney also moved to a 2-1 conference record after falling 6-1 in both sets. The junior is now 6-5 overall in singles.
On the doubles side, freshman duo Malwina Rowinska/Qavia Lopez dropped their second match of conference action against No. 8 Aysegul Mert/Dasha Vidmanova in Florida's last outing against Georgia. Veteran pair Carly Briggs/Rachel Gailis dropped their 3-match win streak after falling at in the home opener. Briggs/Gailis has an overall record of 4-4 and is 2-1 against SEC opponents.
Ahead of Sunday's match, Tennessee currently sits at No. 16 with two ranked players in singles and four ranked doubles teams.
Sofia Cabezas ranks as No. 27 with a 8-1 overall record and 1-1 in conference while Catherine Aulia sits at No. 121.
On the doubles side, Sofia Cabezas/Esther Adeshina find themselves taking the No. 23 spot. Esther Edshina/Alana Wolfberg comes in at No. 51 with a 7-2 overall record is currently undefeated in regular season action. Pair Sofia Cabezas/Elza Tomase is not far behind at No. 57. The duo is 1-1 in SEC play and 5-3 overall. The last ranked doubles team for the Vols is Alana Wolfberg/Catherine Aulia sitting at No. 77.

The Gators will enter this match 5-7, falling to No.10 Georgia 4-3 on Friday Evening. The Bulldogs took the doubles point in a quick 6-2, 6-3 effort.
Once again, the doubles point proved to be the deciding factor in this match as both teams won three matches respectively.

Sara Dahlstrom followed after notching the final point for Florida after defeating No. 25 Alexandra Vecic. Sara dropped the first set 4-6, but forced a third after taking the second set 6-4. Dahlstrom snagged the victory with a 6-3 win in the final set.
