Brooklyn, N.Y. – Leilani Correa, the 2024 SEC Sixth-Woman of the year will enter the 2024 WNBA Draft. Correa would be the 20th Gator selected in the WNBA Draft and the first Florida women's basketball player since Kiara Smith in 2022, selected by the Connecticut Sun.
Correa transferred to Florida after her junior year at St. John's. In her two seasons under Head Coach Kelly Rae Finley, Correa played a vital role in setting a foundation for the present and future of the Florida Women's Basketball program.
The New Jersey native became one of the most consistent scorers on the floor for Florida, averaging 11.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in the 2022-2023 season and 16.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game in the 2023-2024 season.
During the most recent season Correa put up impressive numbers for the Gators and led the Southeastern Conference in scoring. Correa recorded 27 games in double-figures, three consecutive 30+ point performances, and hit 2,000+ career points.
