Sunday, June 23, 2024 | Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving, Olympics
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On the final day of competition at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming and Diving Trials, Bobby Finke defended his 1500m free title after coasting to first on Sunday night inside Lucas Oil Stadium. The former Gator's 14:40.28 reset the U.S. Open Record he recorded last June.
In Knoxville, Tenn., Casey Greenberg represented Florida diving in the women's platform final. She concluded her notable-trials performance with a 495.20 combined-score to finish tenth in the U.S.
Competing one lane over from Finke was Luke Whitlock. The incoming Gator finished third after clocking a 14:52.00. Although Whitlock didn't place in the top-two tonight, Team USA officially named Luke Whitlock to the Olympic Team on last night. He placed second in the 800m free on Tuesday after touching the wall in 7:45.19 for his first Olympic Berth.

Bobby Finke swept the men's long-distance competition after finishing 12 seconds ahead of second. Finke's 14:40.28 resets the U.S. Open Record he set at U.S. Nationals. The UF Alum is set to compete in the men's 800m free and 1500m free in Paris. Swimming in lane six, Whitlock dropped over 14 seconds off his previous-best to stop the clock in 14:53.00. Coming into the final 100 meters, Whitlock sped up to Johnston for a chance to take second, but fell short to finish third.
Adding to her 246.30 semifinal score she set Friday night, Casey Greenberg opened the finals session with a 54.60. She followed with a 54.00 on her Forward 3 1/2 Somersault Pike to head into the halfway mark with a 354.90 total score.
