Gators Place 111 on SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida placed 111 student-athletes on the 2024 Southeastern Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, announced today by league commissioner Greg Sankey.
The 2024 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2023-24 summer, fall and spring terms. Florida placed 312 student-athletes on 2023-24 SEC Fall (137), Winter (64 ) and Spring Academic Honor Rolls.
Florida's NCAA champion men's track & field and NCAA semifinal lacrosse teams each placed 26 on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. That total equals men's track & field's record for the second consecutive year and for the third time since 2018.
Six from UF's Women's College World Series semifinal team earned spots on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. The NCAA Indoor & Outdoor runner-up women's track & field team placed 19 on the Academic Honor Roll. Florida's College World Series baseball team saw 13 earning a spot on the team.
Other sport honoree numbers included men's golf (8), women's golf (5), men's tennis (2) and women's tennis (6).
Notes About Gator Honorees:
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.

Notes About Gator Honorees:
- 2024 SEC Female Athlete of the Year Parker Valby, who swept all possible cross country and track & field individual awards in 2023-24 (2023 cross country runner of year by Honda Award & USTFCCCA; 2024 track runner of year by Honda and indoor & outdoor USTFCCCA) after winning five individual titles in record times this season, appears on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll for the third consecutive year.
- Three Gators who picked up yearly conference athlete of the year honors are on the SEC Academic Honor Roll – Elyse Finnelle (AAC Goalkeeper of the Year), Maggi Hall (AAC Attack) and Parker Valby (SEC Cross Country, Indoor & Outdoor Runner of the Year).
- Valby also claimed the 2024 USTFCCCA Cross Country National Scholar Athlete of the Year.
- Baseball's Jac Caglianone is the first Gator named Division I Baseball Academic All-America Team Member of the Year by the College Sports Communicators
- Lacrosse's Emily Lortz is the third Gator ever across all sports to claim the NCAA Elite 90 Award. The award is given to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average each year at each of the NCAA's 90 final championship sites.
- Josh King (Track & Field) and Lortz receive $10,000 post-graduate scholarships as nominees for the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete of Year award.
- Avery Goelz (softball) receives a $5,000 post-graduate scholarship as a nominee for the 2024 Brad Davis SEC Community Leaders award.
- Women's golf's Taylor Roberts graduated summa cum laude in May. Magna cum laude graduates in May include Claire Bryant (track & field), Sara Dahlstrom (tennis), Emily Lortz (lacrosse), Jackie Norsworthy (lacrosse). Cum laude graduates in May included Nate Bonetto (tennis), Alissa Braxton (track & field), Zach Godbold (track & field), Liz Harrison (lacrosse), Jadon Maddux (track & field), Bella Palagonia (lacrosse), Danielle Pavinelli (lacrosse), Rylee Pustilnik (track & field), Jordan Shapiro (track & field), Parker Valby (track & field), Tyler Wilkes (golf).
- Orlando Cicilioni (track & field), Jessica Edwards (track & field), Josie Hahn (lacrosse), Emily Lortz (lacrosse), Eoin McNally (track & field), Danielle Pavinelli (lacrosse), Rylee Pustilnik (track & field), Taylor Roberts (golf), Chase Ruskin (track & field) turned in 4.0 grade point averages for the 2023-24 academic year.
- The SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll includes one from each of Florida's men's & women's track & field teams who compete next month in the Paris Summer Olympics – Jevaughn Powell (Jamaica) and Parker Valby (U.S.)
