Florida Volleyball Sweeps Arkansas on the Road

FAYETTEVILLE, AR. – The Florida volleyball team recorded its first sweep in conference play on Sunday afternoon after defeating Arkansas, 25-16, 25-22, 25-20, inside Barnhill Arena.
Florida registered a .281 hitting clip, as setter Alexis Stucky guided three players to double-digits kills en route to her fourth-consecutive double-double with 44 assists and 12 digs.
Outside hitter Jordyn Byrd tallied a match-high 16 kills, while middle blocker Jaela Auguste had 11 kills and hit .421 in the three setter. Outside hitter Aniya Madkin finished with 10, as four additional Gators contributed to Florida's 51 total kills: Alec Rothe (7), Milica Vidacic (3), Stucky (3) and Amaya Thomas (1).
At the net, Florida posted seven team blocks, having five in the third set alone. Auguste, Rothe and Stucky all registered three apiece, while Byrd and Vidacic pitched in two each and Madkin added one to the stat line.
In the backcourt, the Gators held Arkansas to a .122 hitting clip with freshman libero Lily Hayes having a career-high 24 digs to lead Florida's defense. Ella Vogel matched Stucky's 12 and Auguste and Stucky combined for 10, tallying four and six, respectively. Additionally, four players contributed to Florida's 65 team digs: Vidacic (3), Emily Canaan (2), Byrd (1) and Rothe (1).
Behind the service line, Taylor Parks dropped two of Florida's three aces in the third set, while Vogel recorded one in the second set.

How It Happened
Set 1
- Florida opened the match with a 2-0 lead and pushed to a 7-4 advantage after kills from Byrd, Rothe and Vidacic. An Arkansas ace inched the Razorbacks within two, but back-to-back kills from Byrd sent the Gators into the media timeout ahead 15-12. Following the break, Razorback errors extended Florida's lead to five (19-14) and points from Auguste and Madkin helped seal the 25-16 set-one win.

Set 2
- After starting the second set with a 4-1 lead, Arkansas scored three straight and tied it up at four. From there, the two teams exchanged points until kills from Rothe gave the Gators a 15-14 advantage at the media timeout. Out of the huddle, both teams battled point-for-point before an ace from Vogel put Florida ahead by three (19-16) and forced a Razorback timeout. Following the break, Arkansas kept the fight and notched it back up at 19 to make Florida use a timeout heading into the final moments of set two. With the race to 25 inching near, back-to-back kills from Madkin and Stucky and an Arkansas service error helped Florida secure the 25-22 second-set win and earn a 2-0 lead in the match.

- With Hutson behind the service line, the Gators kept their momentum going with a 6-0 lead before the Razorbacks responded with a 9-2 scoring run to force a Florida timeout early in the third set. Out of the huddle, the Gators scored three straight behind kills from Thomas, Madkin and a block from Madkin and Vidacic to take a 13-12 lead. Florida's block continued to push the points, going on a 4-0 scoring run with Hutson behind the service line to earning a 20-17 lead and force an Arkansas timeout. The Razorbacks fought back within one (21-20), but Parks dropped an ace and served out the rest of the set for a 25-20 third-set win.
