Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida swimming and diving programs welcome Georgia to Gainesville for a two-day dual meet to open SEC competition on Thursday, Oct. 30, and Friday, Oct. 31. Action begins Thursday at 5 p.m. inside the Stephen C. O'Connell Center Natatorium with diving and select swimming events, followed by a full slate of swimming on Friday starting at 11 a.m.

Friday's events will stream live on SEC+ and fans can follow both sessions through DiveMeets and the MeetMobile app.

Honoring Theresa Andrews
UF Athletics 2025 Hall of Fame Inductee Theresa Andrews will be honored prior to Friday's events.

A three-time NCAA champion and 18-time All-American, Theresa helped the Gators win the inaugural NCAA women's swimming and diving national championships in their home pool at the O'Connell Center in March 1982.

On the world stage, Theresa earned two Olympic gold medals at the 1984 Los Angeles Games — winning the 100-meter backstroke and the 400-meter medley relay. Her 100-meter victory, later recognized as one of the Top 10 greatest upsets in Olympic swimming history, held an especially personal meaning, as she dedicated her gold medal to her brother, Danny, who suffered paraplegia the previous summer.

In 2008, Theresa became just the third Gator ever to receive the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award, which recognizes individuals on the 25th anniversary of the conclusion of their college athletics careers. The honor celebrates the achievements and contributions of former student-athletes who have excelled in their professional lives and continue to exemplify the values of collegiate athletics.

Before joining the Gators, she began her collegiate career at Indiana University, where she captured six Big Ten titles in her freshman season.

Records:
The No. 4 Florida men's swimming and diving team opened its 2025-26 home slate with a 191.50-159.50 win over No. 13 Virginia, while the No. 6 women fell to the nation's top-ranked Cavaliers on Friday, Oct. 10.

Florida totaled 13 NCAA cuts, with the women recording 10 and the men three.

The Gator men posted eight event victories and 26 top-three finishes, with 16 different swimmers contributing points in the win. Freshmen Ahmed Jaouadi and Nil Cadevall scored team-high 22 points apiece, each earning two first-place finishes and one second-place finish in their respective events.

On the women's side, Florida totaled four event victories and 13 top-three finishes, which was highlighted by historic performance from the 400 medley relay team of Catie Choate, Anita Bottazzo, Beatriz Bezerra and Lainy Kruger, who posted the program's third-fastest time (3:28.67). Bottazzo, who recorded a 55.96 split on the breast leg, led the Gators with 18 points after winning both the 50-yard breast (26.58) and 100-yard breast (56.87).

Gator diving made a strong impact, contributing 32 points on both the men's and women's sides since Virginia no longer has a diving program. Every diver recorded an NCAA Zone qualifying score as well.

Josh Liendo Sets World Record
Florida competed without Liendo, who was racing at the 2025 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup. The senior, who represents Team Canada, delivered a historic swim on the World Cup's opening night in Toronto, Canada, setting the 100m butterfly short course world record of 47.68 in his home pool.
