How It Happened
Set 1
- After falling to a 3-6 deficit in the opening set, the Gators settled in and tied it up at sixes before going on a 5-0 rally, with Hayes behind the service line, to earn a 12-8 lead and force an LSU timeout. Out of the huddle, a block from Auguste followed by another with Madkin on her left kept Florida's defensive momentum going as the Gators extended their lead to 15-9. A block from Stucky and Rothe made it 18-12 and the Tigers used their final timeout of the set in hopes to slow Florida down, but there was no stopping the Gators as an ace from Auguste and points from Byrd and Rothe sealed the 25-16 set-one win.

The Tigers responded with 3-0 scoring run to inch within one (7-6) before kills from Auguste, Madkin and a block from the duo sent the Gators into the timeout with a 15-9 lead. Following the break, LSU kept the fight and strung together a 6-2 scoring run to come back within two of Florida lead (17-15) before Byrd capitalized off two Tiger errors to pull ahead, 20-15. Set 3
- Early errors allowed the Tigers a 5-1 lead, as the Gators continued to trail by five throughout the first half of set three and head into the media timeout down 9-15. Out of the huddle, Byrd took advantage of an open net which gave Florida some momentum, but LSU's attacking made it difficult for the Gators to find their rhythm, as Coach Theis called a timeout after the Tigers gained a 20-10 lead. Following the break, attacks from Thomas and Auguste kept the Gators alive, but the Tigers were able to keep their lead and come away with a 25-14 win.

- A kill from Vidacic gave the Gators an early 5-3 lead, as the freshman recorded two more to go along with a Stucky block and a kill from Byrd to remain ahead by three (10-7). LSU evened the score after three-straight points from Robinson, but back-to-back kills from Vidacic and Hutson sent Florida into the media timeout with a 15-13 lead. Out of the huddle, the Gators pushed their lead to four (17-13) until the Tigers responded with another 3-0 scoring run to inch back within one (19-18) and force a Florida timeout. With the race to 25 near, a kill from Hutson and a block from Auguste and Stucky gave the Gators enough momentum to win 25-22 and take the match to five sets.
