
Gators Deliver Well-Rounded Results at 2025 U.S. Open and European Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Present, future and alumni Gator swimmers turned in a strong performances at the 2025 Toyota U.S. Open Championships and European Nationals, as 14 swimmers combined for 13 A Finals and four podium finishes.
U.S. Open Championships
Across the four days of competition, Florida produced four podium finishes, 11 A-Finals and numerous top-three finishes in the B and C Finals.
Olympic champion Bobby Finke opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 1500m freestyle (15:09.21). He made an A-Final appearance in the 400m IM where he finished tied for sixth with a 4:19.02, while placing second in the 400m free B Final (3:52.12).
Kieran Smith advanced to three of A-Finals, taking fourth in the 200m back (1:59.40), fifth in the 200m IM 91:58.95) and seventh in the 200m free (1:47.93).
In sprint events, Caeleb Dressel competed in two A Finals. He finished fourth in the 100m fly (51.33) and fifth in the 50m fly 23.49), while winning the 50m freestyle B Final in 21.94.
The women's competition was highlighted by Emma Weyant, who earned two podium finishes. She tallied a pair of third-place finishes in the 400m free (4:11.25) and the 400m IM (4:39.45).
Finals appearances continued for the women on the closing day as JoJo Ramey placed seventh in the 200m back A Final (2:14.05), while Grace Rabb added an eighth-place finish in the 200m breast A Final (2:33.80).
Additionally, Lainy Kruger, Molly Mayne, Aiden Norman, Charlie Hutchison, Aleksas Savickas and Devin Dilger all advanced to a final throughout the meet. Rabb and Kruger went one-two in the C Final of the 200m IM, touching the wall in 2:17.15 and 2:18.41, respectively, while Norman secured a C-Final win in the 100m back (54.60). Savickas added a seventh-place A Final finish in the 200m breaststroke (2:15.58) as well as a fourth-place B Final finish in the 50m breast (27.80).
European National Championships
Incoming Gator Koen De Groot represented Florida internationally, advancing to the championship final in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.
De Groot opened the event with a sixth-place finish in the 100m breasts final (56.68) before earning fourth in the 50m breast (26.01), advancing through prelims and semifinals in both events. His performances ranked him 28th overall out of 79 male athletes.
