King Collects SEC Freshman of the Week Status

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On the heels of a stellar starting performance against Missouri on Saturday, Florida right-hander Aidan King has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week.
Firing 5 2/3 shutout innings for the Orange & Blue in game two, King's fourth victory of the season clinched the series for the Gators. The true freshman allowed just four hits and one walk vs. the Tigers while striking out seven batters – one shy of matching his career high.
King needed just 79 pitches to come within one out of notching his third quality start of the year. Holding Missouri to a .190 batting average, King paired with closer Jake Clemente to deliver Florida's fourth shutout of the season – which now ranks 11th in the country.
Following the scoreless effort, the Jacksonville, Fla. native boasts a 4-1 record, 2.68 ERA and .209 batting average against. King has worked to a 44-to-12 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 40 1/3 innings pitched.
King and the Gators return to action at home on Tuesday against Stetson. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network+.
