Gators Depart for Summer Baseball Destinations

Ten UF players will compete in the Cape Cod League in addition to various developmental leagues across the country.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – With the 2026 UF Baseball season in the rearview, select Gators are suiting up for various summer league teams to develop their skills throughout the offseason.
During the summer, Florida players will be competing in the Cape Cod League, Valley League, Florida Collegiate Summer League and with the USA Collegiate National Team. Summer league competition is already underway while Team USA reports on June 27.
As announced on June 12, right-handed pitchers Jackson Barberi, Aidan King and Joshua Whritenour will don the Stars & Stripes at USA Collegiate National Team Training Camp from June 27-July 4. Featuring 56 of the top, non-draft-eligible players in the country, CNT Training Camp will be cut down to an official roster on July 5 for the 2026 World Collegiate Baseball Championship.
In addition to Team USA, Barberi and Whritenour are also among 10 Gators signed to play in the Cape Cod League as members of the Harwich Mariners and Brewster Whitecaps, respectively. Whritenour is joined on Brewster by three UF teammates in shortstop Brendan Lawson, righty Schuyler Sandford and outfielder Cash Strayer.
Elsewhere around the Cape Cod League, a trio of UF players will suit up for the Wareham Gateman in southpaw Jackson Hoyt, two-way star Caden McDonald and outfielder Hayden Yost. Catcher Jon Embury (Hyannis Harbor Hawks) and infielder Ethan Surowiec (Bourne Braves) are also on CCBL rosters.
Infielder Colton Schwarz is the lone Gator suiting up in the Valley League, doing so as a member of the Strasburg Express. There is also one current UF player in the Florida Collegiate Summer League, as Nic Partridge is lacing up the spikes for the DeLand Suns. Incoming Gators signee Cameron Hanes is playing in the FCSL as well with the Winter Park Diamond Dogs.
