
No. 4/7 Softball Welcomes FGCU For Wednesday Midweek

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Hot off a series sweep at South Caorlina, the No. 4/7 Florida softball team (40-5, 14-4 SEC) returns home to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium on Wednesday night to host FGCU (15-25, 9-6 ASUN).
First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on SEC Network+ with Ryan Urquhart and Aleshia Ocasio calling the action.
Fans can also listen on WRUF where Lance Williams and Steve Russell will have the radio call.
The Gators are looking to improve to 11-0 over in-state opponents this season, who already have win over USF (2x), Jacksonville (2x), FIU, UNF (2x), Stetson (2x) and Bethune-Cookman. Florida is outscoring in-state opponents 91-16.

Notables:
- Keagan Rothrock was named the National Pitcher of the Week by the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) and Softball America. The junior also picked up Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week honors on Tuesday
- FGCU head coach Lindsay Fico (formally Lindsay Norfleet) played at Florida from 2003-2006 and was on head coach Tim Walton's first team at Florida in 2006
- The Gators faced Fico when she was the head coach at Mercer during the 2025 Gainesville Regional
- Allison Sparkman played her first two seasons with the Eagles, pitching a combined 274 innings while at FGCU
- Jocelyn Erickson ranks third in the NCAA in RBIs (66) and home runs (19)
- The senior is just three home runs shy of matching the Florida single-season record of 22 home runs. The record is held by Taylor Shumaker (2025) and Brittany Schutte (2011)
- Erickson, who currently has 49 home runs as a Gator, is one home run shy of becoming just the fifth Florida player in program history to hit 50 or more home runs in their careers: Lauren Haeger (71), Megan Bush (65), Francesca Enea (61) and Kelsey Bruder (52)
- Taylor Shumaker ranks second in the nation in runs (67) and fourth in hits (70)
- Cassidy McLellan hit a team-best .625 at South Carolina with a double, a home runs and seven RBIs
- The Gators lead the nation in doubles (90) and rank second in hits (451), third in fielding percentage (.986), fourth in total runs (375) and walks (216) and sixth in batting average (.365)
