AS A FRESHMAN (2015): Earned Freshman All-American honors from Baseball America (second team) and Louisville Slugger…Joined Gator teammates Mike Rivera and JJ Schwarz on the SEC’s All-Freshman Team…Chosen to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll…Started 69 games at second base and batted .287, with 55 runs, 29 walks and 26 RBIs…Tied for first on the squad in at bats (282), was tied for third in doubles (14) and ranked fourth with 22 multiple-hit games…Was 6-for-12 on stolen-base attempts and registered a .980 fielding percentage…Florida was 43-16 (.729) when he was in the leadoff spot…Hit .294 in SEC action, with 21 runs, 16 walks, 14 RBIs and three doubles…Batted .313 (5-for-16) in the Gators’ five games at the NCAA College World Series and scored four runs…Had a .306 average in 39 games at McKethan Stadium…Was 1-for-3, scored twice and drew a bases-loaded walk in the win over Virginia at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha…Started the CWS by going 3-for-3 with an RBI single in the 15-3 conquest of Miami (FL)…Scored in both wins over No. 10 Florida State during the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional…Only game he missed all season was the SEC Tournament Championship Game against Vanderbilt after he suffered an injury during the 2-1 triumph over No. 1 LSU…Went 2-for-4 and scored twice as the Gators eliminated Arkansas from Hoover…Helped UF take the rubber game of its series with Auburn by going 2-for-3 with a walk…Batted .333 (4-for-12) in the series victory at No. 8 Vanderbilt, with three walks, two doubles and a couple of runs…Tied career high by driving in three runs during the series finale with Kentucky, when he was 3-for-4 with a two-run triple and a sacrifice fly…Was 5-for-12 (.417) in the road sweep of Mississippi State, highlighted by a 3-for-4, two-run outing in the opener…Turned in a .364 (4-for-11) clip and scored four runs in UF’s three wins over No. 21 South Carolina…Belted the first two homers of his collegiate career and scored three runs in the home win over Stetson…Got the Orange and Blue off to a good start at Missouri by going 3-for-5 in game one…Set a career best by driving in three runs during the finale at Ole Miss, when he was 3-for-5…Opened SEC play with a hit in each game against Tennessee…Went 5-for-9 (.556) with three runs and two doubles in the mid-week sweep of Fairfield…Played a key role in the weekend sweep of Maine by hitting .357 (5-for-14)…Had three doubles and scored three times in the sweep of Stony Brook…Started his collegiate career with a flourish, ranking second on the squad with a .462 (6-for-13) average in the sweep of Rhode Island…Capped the series by going 4-for-5 with three runs, a pair of doubles and his first stolen base.
HIGH SCHOOL: Infielder from Venice High School who played for head coach Craig Faulkner…Teammate of fellow Gator sophomore Mike Rivera…Chosen in the 40th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft by the Minnesota Twins with the 1,190th overall pick…Captured back-to-back state championships in Class 7A during his sophomore and junior years and reached the semifinals in his final season…Two-time all-state and all-state academic team selection…Was one of nine players in the country and the only player from Florida named to the 2014 Rawlings High School Gold Glove Team…Chosen as the 2014 Florida Dairy Farmers Player of the Year for Class 6A and was named the Sarasota Herald-Tribune Player of the Year…Batted .393 with 28 runs and 10 doubles as Venice was the preseason top-ranked team in the Baseball America/National High School Baseball Coaches Association Top 25…Participated in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) All-Star Baseball Classic…Was a second-team Preseason All-American and was named to the Florida All-Region First Team by Rawlings/Perfect Game prior to his senior year…Ranked No. 19 in the state of Florida and No. 5 at shortstop in the Class of 2014 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…Ranked No. 82 nationally and No. 13 among shortstops from Perfect Game…Hit .298 with 15 stolen bases as a junior, when he earned his team’s Best Defensive Player award…Chosen as a first-team Preseason Underclassmen All-American by Perfect Game prior to his junior campaign and was a second-team pick entering his sophomore season in 2012…Worked with Habitat for Humanity building homes…Participated in “Making Good Decisions,” an organization that helps elementary school students learn to read…Assisted with coaching youth baseball.
