AS A FRESHMAN (2010): Appeared in two games totaling two innings and did not allow any runs… Gave up one hit with a strikeout and a walk at USF on April 21… Made collegiate debut on April 6 versus Jacksonville and worked a scoreless eighth inning in which he walked two batters, had one K and did not permit any hits.
HIGH SCHOOL: Right-handed pitcher from Winter Haven High School who played for head coach David Saliba… The Blue Devils were 24-1 during the 2009 regular season and advanced to the district semifinals… Brown went 10-1 with a 0.72 earned run average in his final campaign en route to first-team all-state honors in Class 5A… Chosen All-Area Central Florida by ESPN Rise Magazine and was named The Lakeland Ledger's Player of the Year and the Polk County Player of the Year in ‘09… Was an honorable mention selection to Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason Florida Region Team… Over his final two seasons, Brown was 20-3 with 233 strikeouts in 151 innings… Notched 16 strikeouts and threw his first career perfect game in the season opener against Bartow… Batted .432 last spring and totaled 20 RBI in 83 at-bats… Chosen third-team all-state Class 5A and first-team all-country as a junior, when he was 10-2 with a 1.35 ERA and registered 113 strikeouts in 83 innings… Helped Winter Haven to the regional finals… Compiled a 7-2 record as a sophomore with a 1.32 ERA and 78 K in 58 innings… Was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and the yearbook staff.
