What theyβre sayingβ¦
βFloyd is Florida's best NFL prospect, and a possible first-round pick. At 6-foot-3, 303 pounds, Floyd can play end in a 3-4 alignment or tackle in a 4-3. βHe provides a lot of scheme versatility,β said Kiper, who rates Floyd among his top 25 overall prospects. Floyd can occupy blockers to free up linebackers, collapse the pocket or make plays in pursuit. He forced a fumble on a wide receiver screen last week against Louisiana-Lafayette. A week earlier against Missouri, Floyd had three tackles for loss.β (11/15/12)
Edgar Thompson, Orlando Sentinel
βIt's not just about stats for Floyd. He might only have four tackles for loss, but the coaches have absolutely raved about how disruptive he's been up front for Florida in the run and pass.β (10/18/12)
Edward Aschoff, ESPN.com
"He's a bear, so it's good to have a bear in the middle.β (9/5/12)
Dominique Easley, UF defensive end
Β
βIβve been focusing on football since the bowl game and that feels great, too, to know that I can just focus on one thing, and itβs something I love.β (8/27/12)
Sharrif Floyd, UF defensive tackle
βWeβve been real good friends ever since he got here. I feel like I play a lot better when heβs in front of me. He was a great addition to the team and Iβm glad we got him back.β (9/17/11)
Jelani Jenkins, UF linebacker
βHeβs a leader. Heβs an outstanding young man. When he walks on that field and says something, he commands a lot of respect.β (9/17/11)
Will Muschamp, UF Head Coach
"He's a great athlete, real strong guy, real powerful. Sharrif is an amazing pass rusher. He's real good, real versatile, everything on the line. His power and his quickness, he's still pretty quick for a big guy." (9/13/11)
Jonotthan Harrison, UF center
βSharrif has amazing talent; he is a great person, player and leader. I am excited to have him back and Iβm looking forward to it. He has great pass-rush ability. With him on the field, he makes everyoneβs job a lot easier. Especially against a great quarterback like Tennessee has, he makes it a lot easier.β (9/12/11)
Jelani Jenkins, UF linebacker
"Sharrif brings size, speed, athleticism. He just brings a lot to that position that you can't normally get from a guy my size [6-2, 252] or somebody of my stature. He's a big guy and he's fast, quick, powerful." (9/12/11)
Lerentee McCray, UF defensive end
βItβs going to be a big emotional boost. Sharrif is a great teammate, and we all love to have him on the field with us.β (9/12/11)
Omar Hunter, UF defensive tackle, on his return
βIβm looking forward to seeing him play. First of all heβs a nice young man. Secondly, heβs a great football player. Weβre excited to have him back.β (9/12/11)
Will Muschamp, UF Head Coach
βItβs a big difference. [Dominique] Easley has always had that quick first step since he got here, but he and Sharrif [Floyd] have both gotten a lot better with technique. Theyβll get comfortable in the games, and itβll let them get back to playing how they were in high school. They all bring something different to the table, too. Sharrif is just disruptive. Heβs one of those guys that teams will have to watch out for 24/7. Then you look on the other side, and you have Easley with the fastest get-off Iβve ever seen. Heβs disrupting stuff, too. Offenses canβt just key in on stopping one guy, especially when youβve got Jaye Howard, Omar Hunter and [Ronald] Powell in there, too.β (8/8/11)
Jon Bostic, UF linebacker
βHe is a big, strong, quick presence in the middle of the line who should make tremendous strides after playing as a true freshman last season.β (6/2/11)
Robbie Andreu, Gainesville Sun
"He's one of the most improved players on our defense now. He's one of the most talented, most mature freshmen I've ever been around and I've been doing this a lot of years." (11/2/10)
Dan McCarney, North Texas Head Coach and former UF Defensive Line Coach
``I love when Sharrif gets out there and plays with enthusiasm and fires the Gator Chomp at people. That kind of got me fired up.'' (9/11/10)
Urban Meyer, former UF Head Coach
βImagine if I keep applying that (UFβs coaching) and doing everything Iβm learning. Then Iβm going to have a great season and a great career.β (8/10/10)
Sharrif Floyd, UF defensive tackle
βThis guy will take on a triple team if he has to; anything to get to the quarterback.β (8/10/10)
Lynden Trail, former UF defensive end
βMy goal is to dominate whatever coach puts in front of me, go as hard as I can, sprint to the ball, and possibly get my way on the field some way, some how.β
Sharrif Floyd, UF defensive tackle
"He is strong, looks mean; he is 310 pounds, fast, chiseled for a lineman and ready to go. Freshmen just donβt look like that.β (8/6/10)
Emmanuel Moody, former UF running back
βHeβs one of the reasons the Gatorsβ defensive line class might be the most talented ever.β (7/28/10)
Chris Low, ESPN.com
βHeβs a muscular, thick kid who is light on his feet and has that aggressive nature. He may be the best defensive tackle in the country.β (3/9/10)
Tom Lemming, CBS College Sports Recruiting Analyst
βWhen I got to San Antonio (for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl) on Sunday, I talked with Andre Odom (a former George Washington and Temple player) and by Monday, I made my decision. Florida is somewhere I was comfortable and somewhere I could grow.β (3/9/10)
Sharrif Floyd, UF defensive tackle
βI hate to say that I have a favorite yet, but heβs one of my favorites because of where he comes from. He gets on a bus for an hour and a half to go to school and he comes from a tough situation. He has a 3.0 grade point average and he takes care of himself. He comes from a great high school football program.β (2/3/10)
Urban Meyer, former UF Head Coach
