PROFILE
? Nickname is “SuperFly”
? Born in Haiti
? Won two state championships in Florida Class 4A in the long jump and triple jump in 2005
? His mother brought him and his brother, John, from Haiti to Naples in 2002, leaving them to go to school as she returned home. Three years later, John moved to New York and Wondy was left supporting himself. His high school coach, Buddy Quarles, and his wife, Marisa, took Pierre-Louis into their home. After signing a National Letter of Intent to play at Florida, had to return to Haiti in the summer of 2006 to obtain a new student visa for college
What they’re saying about Wondy Pierre-Louis:
“What he needed was experience. He jumped right into the fire. He'll start at corner, and he shows me at times he's a talented guy. Now we have depth (at corner), and depth creates competition." (7/17/08)
Urban Meyer, UF Head Coach
“Wondy’s extremely talented. He doesn’t have a lot of experience playing football, but as far as speed and athleticism, he’s a 6-1 corner with long arms. He’s a nice kid who jumps high and runs fast.” (7/31/06)
Urban Meyer, UF Head Coach
“He does have an infectious personality. As my wife says, you see Wondy and you just want to hug him. That’s the kind of kid he is.” (7/7/06)
Chris Metzger, Lely High School head coach
“I think that Wondy understands the level he’ll be playing at. I think what was even more impressive about Wondy was how he made strides as a person and a student leading up to the end of the school year. The sky is the limit for Wondy.” (7/7/06)
