At Florida
2008-09: Named to the 2009 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll… Saw action in seven of UF’s dual competitions throughout the season… Had a career-best meet at the three-day Princeton Big Al Invitational in Princeton, N.J. … Placed fourth overall in the mile (15:21.90), securing an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event… Claimed seventh in the 200-yard free (1:41.13) after clocking a 1:40.95 in prelims, took 11th overall in the 500-yard free (4:27.78) and 23rd in the 100 free (49.10) after swimming a career-best 47.76 in preliminaries… Also swam as a member of the fourth-place 800-yard free relay in Princeton… Swam a season-best 1000-yard free (9:34.02) when the Gators visited LSU in Baton Rouge, where he placed fifth overall in the distance event… Staked claim on three season-bests when the Gators traveled to Orlando, Fla., for the 2009 Florida Swimming Senior Championships, in the 50 free (22.50), 200 free (1:39.46) and 500 free (4:27.41)… Additionally took second in the 500 free (4:41.43) and third in the 1000-yard free when South Carolina visited Gainesville (9:39.78)… Wrapped up the dual meet season with a fourth-place finish in the 200 free against Indian River State College (1:43.70).
