Markus Fürst is on his fifth season after joining the Florida Gators Athletic Performance staff in August 2021.
His role expanded in 2023 to include both men’s and women’s Tennis, and in 2024, he added women’s Golf to his responsibilities. Through his work, Markus has gained experience across a range of sports, applying performance-driven training methods to support strength, power, and on-field performance.
In 2021, Markus joined the Florida Gators as a strength and conditioning intern before being hired onto the full-time staff. In his role, he took primary responsibility for men’s Golf while also assisting with men’s basketball, contributing to the development of athletes in a high-performance collegiate environment.
Markus earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Wingate University in 2020, where he was a member of the men’s swimming program and served as co-captain during his senior year. During his collegiate career, he was a two-time All-American and a three-time Academic All-American, while also representing the Swedish national team. Following his undergraduate career, he completed his Master of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida in 2021.
He began his career in 2019 as a strength and conditioning intern at Mamba Sports Academy, where he assisted in the preparation of professional athletes, including those competing in the NFL and NBA.
Alongside his coaching, Markus is currently training for Ironman races and ultramarathons, documenting the process and sharing insights into endurance training, performance optimization, and the realities of balancing high-level training with professional responsibilities.
