GATOR MEN’S TENNIS TEAM OPENS SEASON AT SOUTHERN COLLEGIATES

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Florida men's tennis team opened its 1999-00 season Thursday at the Southern Collegiates at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Three Gators claimed victories in opening round singles matches. Senior Trey Adcock posted a three-set victory over Nikola Aracic of Murray State 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-4 in Division I, while senior Dylan Mann won in straight sets over Stuart Marcus of Jacksonville State in Division II.
Freshman Matt Behrmann, who had a bye in the first round of the Division II Singles draw, won his opener in three sets over Alex Jung of UAB 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. He will play Lesley Joseph of Georgia at 11 a.m. Friday in third round action.
In doubles, Adcock and Behrmann beat Duke's Yorke Allen and Michael Yani, 8-4, in the first round of the Division A flight Thursday, while Asse and Mann received a first round bye in Division B and will not play until Friday.
The tournament, which includes more than 150 student-athletes from 32 schools, consists of four singles flights and three doubles flights. Play continues through Sunday, October 10.
