UF'S O'NEAL REACHES SINGLES FINAL AT REGION III CHAMPIONSHIPS

ATHENS, Ga. -- University of Florida senior Justin O'Neal advanced to the singles final of the ITA Region III Indoor Championships with two victories Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia.
O'Neal, the second seed, will meet LSU's 21st-ranked Tom Hand in Sunday's final at 10 a.m. Both Hand and O'Neal have each lost just one set during their respective runs to the championship match. By virtue of reaching the final, O'Neal and Hand have received automatic berths to the 2000 Rolex National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, which will be hosted by Southern Methodist University and Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas, Texas from Feb. 3-6.
O'Neal, who is rated 10th in the ITA preseason rankings, reached the final with a 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory over Tennessee's 15th-ranked Mark Parsons in the semifinals. Earlier in the day O'Neal beat UAB's 36th-ranked Martin Woisetschlaeger 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
